what happened at the broom sale? (pages 92-93 if you have a book) do the ladies just start randomly fighting since the brooms are cheap, or is there some discrimination thing going on where harvey lets the white kkk woman get brooms first??? or something else.....

This is really all about the inequity of life among people of various races. It is a fight, not over the brooms themselves, but over dominance and subservience. It's about race and class and gender ... and it is a metaphor for the life that surrounds them
