I'll apologize now. It was just screaming to come out.
Now seriously. Can you put multiple layers of epoxy on the shell or does it have to be loose materials with a masters in engineering on the side? I imagine that thickening the shell dramatically would do it, considering the immense strength the basic shape already possesses. ???

Like one of those leadership/group builder activities?
We had to drop an egg three stories off a roof. We built a cone shape using paper, and lined it with drinking straws. We filled the nose of the cone with torn paper, and then put the egg in, and more crumpled paper. Then we used string and attached a piece of paper with it's corners drawn together like a parachute. So we had a paper/straw cone with a paper parachute. Our egg survived and we got first place.
Another successfull group used styrofoam from an egg carton. Then then attached it to a giant paper airplane type thing to slow the fall.
