A tiny little pearl farm in the north of Western Australia that was 220 kms from the nearest town. It is called Cygnet Bay and is up near Cape Leveque on the Dampier Peninsula above Broome. We only had power during the day as we had a generator that was turned off at night, it was HOT, no aircons, lots of snakes...some used to come inside the house, one ate our cat! We would fish, snorkel and swim in the mangroves...even though there was always the risk of crocodiles! We would walk for miles catching mud crabs and squeezing into tiny caves in the rocky cliffs (stupid I know). We would camp in the bush and ride horses and muster cattle occasionally. We didn't have TV or PlayStation's...we had a life!!! I was between the ages of 12 and 16 when we lived there and think of it all the time...I wish my kids had such fun as we did! Plus it was the last place where my mum lived before she got sick and died when she was only 38. So memories of her are entwined into my thoughts of the place.
Wow...become all misty eyed now! Thanks for the great question that has allowed me to reminisce!!!

HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE PLACE I HAVE EVER LIVED IS PAPUA NEW GUINEA. I LOVE(D) IT SO SO SO SO SO MUCH. I WANT TO GO BACK REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD, but I'm stuck in the u.s.a. because i have no money to go back. I loved it because it was beautiful there. There were palm trees, banana trees, birds of paradise, high mountain peak, warm clear ocean, great people, warm climate, its where all my REAL friends, everything I've ever wanted. I may go on and on so be patient. I loved living on a little compound in the middle of the jungle. It was almost like a fort. I could walk around freely there. I am scared to even unlock my door in the U.S. In PNG, I could go over to a friends house. The big thing: kids there were like me. When I go to school in the U.S., kids will only talk about music and the great parties they went to the night before. I HATE IT!!! I loved how in PNG there were so few people that everyone hung-out together and no one was left out. I had a huge crush on one of the guys there. Me and my best friend would always have fun playing in the WARM rain. We would go to the 'ditch' and slide down it because it was like a water slide at a water park. I loved the scenery there!!!!!!! All the plants and trees were green, but not the same kind of green as the U.S. It was a tropical green, a beautiful green. I had never seen anything like it before. And when I went down into the lowlands the hills looked like they were made of velvet. The sky is always blue, even when it rained. Packaged food there was not as good, but everything else made up for it to me. The fruit, veggies, and meat pies were THE MOST DELICIOUS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. There were pineapples that costed .33 cents, what are they are they here, like, $4 bucks??!!!?!! There were blueberries, strawberries, tomatoes, carrots, celery, bananas, yams, lemons, limes. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm. The other day I had a grilled cheese sandwich on homemade bread and I practically started to cry because it reminded me of the homemade bread I ate everyday in PNG. IF YOU EVER WANT A MEAT PIE GO TO BINTANGOR'S IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST. At first, I thought they were disgusting, but then I tried one and I was addicted to them. I tried a few different kinds in Australia, but they were not as good (sorry, Aussies) especially the frozen kind.

Washington State, the scenery was amazing. I could see the top of Mt. St. Helens where I lived. Plus it was just a good neighborhood, a short walking distance of my friend's house,YMCA, park, and stores nearby.
