I honestly don't think the refs "favour" anyone.

My opinion is that it is really lame to blame the refs. For one thing, it is not like the refs were the same every game. For another, they are professionals, and how well they officiate decides how many games they officiate, which decides how many money they make. They are not going to cheat. Even when they are wrong, they are only human. It is a part of the game. Any mistakes they do make should be overcome by your team if they really deserve to win. The fact is that bad officiating is bad for both teams. The Isles were not as good a team. They lost because of it. Blaming the refs is pathetic, win or lose. It is just an excuse.

I don't think the refs were intentionally favoring Buffalo. I do however feel that because Buffalo was "supposed" to win this series they got calls that they shouldn't have gotten. I do not beleive the referees did it intentionally or the big boys in Toronto for that matter, I do however feel the Islanders got a raw deal. If the calls had gone their way I think Buffalo would be playing golf right now instead of the Islanders.

How about announcing Sean Hill's suspension an hour before game 5? I mean c'mon. If you don;t think the big boys were behind that then you have another thing c'mon. What the NHL doesn;t realize is that a cinderella story of the Islanders winning the cup would have brought the NHL back to the level where it once was. But what do I know, I am just a disgruntled Islander fan.

No!! Why is this question so frequently asked by what appears to be supporters of the losing team. You have to learn that in a seven game series the team that played better (not necessarily the better team) wins the series. The refs make the calls as they see them. That is their job and responsibility. The refs do the best job they can because they are constantly being evaluated. They have to do a GOOD job if they want to continue getting assignments in the playoffs.

No. There were weird calls on both sides. The refs didn't hold the Islanders down to 3 shots over 2 periods in a critical game.

The Islanders should be very proud of making the playoffs in very tough circumstances and they were far from embarrassed.

They're a good team. This wasn't their year to go deep, but I'd watch out next year. Dump Yashin, he's too expensive for what he delivers.

Nope.

As for the disgruntled Islanders fan, I admit it was bad timing for the suspension of Sean Hill. But the guy took a banned substance and the Islanders knew about this before the playoffs started. He appealed when he was caught and they made a decision during the playoffs. Sean Hill got what he deserved.

Of course not. Why? What would they get out of it? Money perhaps? Then who paid them?

There are bad calls in Hockey. Good teams don't dwell on that and do what they need to do to win anyway. Other teams self-destruct, fail to make a game plan for the situation that EXISTS after the bad calls happen, then shake hands and play Golf.

Only the whiny NYI fans thought that. Face it, your team wasn't that good and a good goalie can only take you so far. Now dump that loser Yashin and get a real captain. One born in a country that gives a damned about winning the cup.
