As McCain said today, 'I am strong enough to wage war, but also strong enough to make peace'.

Now, this man's politics doesn't work with mine but at least as someone who HAS put is head on the block, in a war, you can respect his judgment... unlike Shrub. Right?

It is much more difficult to "wage peace", and, obviously the Shrub takes the easy route...substance abuse, National Guard during a war (and then AWOL...), ignoring bin Laden, etc. etc. Where arte his "Christian values" when we need to see them?

I use to think he was okay, but he is not the same person he was years ago, and I am sure that is because he wants the votes.
John McCain is a thorn in the side of the Republican party and yet he considers himself a candidate for the 2008 Presidential race. McCain was responsible for giving us unconstitutional campaign finance reform and he was one of the idiots who put together the gang of 14 in order to allow the Democrats to dictate the agenda and effectively block votes on nominees. McCain likes to talk the talk but when it is time to walk the walk he capitulates to the liberals. His views leave true conservatives scratching their heads.
McCain has shot himself in the foot. During a recent interview the issue if ILLEGAL immigration was addressed and McCain said:
If they want the stupid fence, I will vote to build it.
can not trust McCain and neither should the nation at large
A fence might not be the best idea but it is better than anything the idiots in Congress have come up with so far. The Congressional solution is to leave the border open allowing all the Mexicans in the world to sneak in and then reward them for their crimes with amnesty. A fence, once erected, is something Congress would have a hard time breaching for the sake of their new constituency from Mexico.

John McCain is a war hero and a patriot. There is no doubt that he has served this country and that should not be overlooked. He has however, become entrenched in his position and like many of the life long members he has become complacent. He has lost the will to fight for the right things and prefers the easy way out. His betrayal of conservative principles is the beginning of the end. Not only does this country not need John McCain as its president, we no longer need him as a Senator. It is time for the so called Maverick to ride off into the sunset.

America has too many doddering old fools sitting in positions of power wasting taxpayer money. We need to get rid of them all and we need to push for, no we need to demand term limits for members of Congress.

What part of terrorism dont you understand? Yes, we took Saddam out, that was good. But we can still weakon the terror nettworks further. I think we could have handled the war better, but we are not doing a bad thing by taking out people who feel that Islam is the ultimate and therefore we should kill all Christians and Jews. Not cool. The war on terror is not finished. I hate war, who doesnt? Even Bush hates war most likely. But Saddam supported Al Qaeda, and Al Qaeda attacked us. We have to stop countries from funding terrorism. We have to stop the spread of this ideology of hatred.

Sorry ...

i used to respect mccain....

but he has seemed to flip flop in many areas in his quest for the presidency...

but the final straw .. was

the fixed / staged / much ballyhooed ""walk"" in baghdad....

what a sad fiasco.....

instead of the normal american dignitary

" visit" to iraq

... which basically entails a sneek entrance ( under cover of darkness ? and with much militray protection ) ...

and only involves a quick stay in the

"green zone "

then a quick flight out with much fanfare of that being a

visit

to

IRAQ !!!!!!!!!!!

thats the norm....

at least you can understand that sort of great american

visit to
IRAQ >> ....hiding in the green zone !!!!!

they are afraid to actually go out to the streets of baghdad .. much less other parts of iraq !!!!!!!

but cainy wanted to show the surge is working ...

sooooo...m
he
fixed it

snipers on the roofs

tanks

and helicopters circling

etc etc etc

100's of troops with him

oh boy

lookee lookee

see how safe iraq / baghdad is ..

come one come all .....

with no concern or care for the market itself .. which has suffered numerous previous attacks ... especially after such so called publicity...

as it turned out

as soon as he had left

the market and its poor inhabitants were attacked

how sad

mccain has shown his true colors and seems to have gone bonkers in his quest of the presidency...

it seems he is willing to say and do ANYTHING to become president ..
it seems he has given up all semblance of dignity , honor, morals and ethics....

he is a terrible choice ...

and YET .. YES .. HE PROBABLY IS BETTER THAN THE CURRENT OCCUPANT

HOW HAS AMERICA COME TO THIS

FIRST THEY ARE COUNTRY JACKED
with aid from brothers/ party reps and even the supreme court !!!!

and now they

MUST STAY THE COURSE

which isn't too bad as the shrub ( as you call it ) doesn't make mistakes and even talks to the higher father above

yeeepp

bushboy talks to God himself...

now we are all safe ...............

come on ... face it ... who would you really want at the head of the helm....

mccain or someone who can actually talk to GOD .. go ahead ask Mr. Pres.. he has already told us he does so .. you must have been snoozing .....

as to getting out of iraq ..

no .. no .. no..

i don't know the real reason they want to stay the course.. ( i don't even know the real reason we went there in the first place !!!)

but now that we are there i believe that we have to stay .. if only to prevent a bloodbath.. of shiites killing the sunnis ...

killing and death is never good ( the BIBLE )

should we leave now ........

americas name will forever be mud and shame and scorn

which it is close to already in/ with many parts of the world ....

----- there would be the massacre or genocide and america would have to shoulder much of the blame for that ( no matter how you try to spin it )

---- there would be all those " terrorists " there .. even though admittedlt they weren't there before !!!!

---- and they would be calling americas running away a victory for them ....

---- and what of the 3000 plus american troops and 1000 other nationality troops killed ..............

... and the 600,000 - 1,000,000 iraqis killed

...... and all the physically disabled ( blown up / apart soldiers ).... about 80,000 and counting ??

.... and the blown apart disabled iraqis .. what number is that ?? one million or more ..

>>> ( why did we invade them again .. we were given sooo maaany reasons .. and they kept changing and changing and changing ....)

and .....

....what of the loved ones ... left behind by the dead troops and the disabled ones and similarly for the iraqis ......the wives and husbands and sons and daughters and mothers and fathers and and and and and an dn

what of bush's legacy ..
what will he and rumsfeld and wolfowitz and rowe and cheney and abizaid and bremmer and lice and powell and all the other republicans be remembered as / for ... this is their legacy

this not only happened on their watch

they instigated it

they have to stay the course

at least until the next president is elected and then whatever happens then can be BLAMED on that individual and their party ... how nice ...

hey didn't it go this way with the Vietnam war too ????

the republicans did the killing and massacres and ...... then they were gone ....

seems history does repeat itself...

how sad .....

It would be nice if we could chalk up the neconservatives’ refusal to get out of Iraq as merely their inability to understand why we should get out of Iraq. Unfortunately, it seems that the only people lacking understanding as to the reasons why we should not be in Iraq are the grassroots neocons, - the bulk of which are middle Americans, and unsophisticated. These are people who don’t understand a thing about foreign policy, Islamic cultures, and basic rules of strategy when dealing with guerilla warfare. All that it takes to convince them, to give sanction to the bloodshed in Iraq, is the promotion of some bubbly sentiments of patriotism.

The lamentable thing here is the necons who are in positions of power, those who actually draft policy that is enforced, are intelligent and learned enough to know that Iraq is a no win situation. However, they are not being guided to further entrench our troops in this aimless war out of sense that we will win, they are compounding the problems of this war and prolonging its length out of a greed for money and an insatiable yearning for power. Its not ignorance that is the impetus behind the neocon strategy, which has resulted in much human misery. Instead, their primary motivation is founded in their utter lack of morality.

Everyone wants our troops home. But, if we left without some amount of stability, we would end up where we left Vietnam, with about 2 million people murdered. I don't think the American public wants that blood on their hands ... again.

Sounds like "loser" Reid has gotten to you. And "shrub" Ahh freethinking childish name calling by the loveable left. Remember Reid did say we were losing so that is not name calling but Truth. Try it sometime

The part that I don't understand is running scared like a coward. I also don't understand the losing concept embraced by liberals.

I understand that foreign policy is an executive branch prerogative. We will remain in Iraq as long as the Commander-in-Chief says we will.
