That's a back up condensate drain. Your AC has a built in drain, but they install the back up in case of failure of the built in one. The drain in question should go to an outside eave or a conspicuous place so you can see if it overflows. If it does it indicates you have a problem with the main drain. Look up sheet metal shops in your area, they can make you one.

Good answers thus far but I have one additional contribution. In some areas the code dictates that the pan you are referring too NOT have a drain but a automatic cut-off switch that is activated when water collects in the pan. Our area (East Texas) used to have the drain line to the outside but changed to the above system over a decade ago. Good luck!

you can get them at a plumbing store. They are called smitty pans. All new construction where I live has a 3/4 " pipe to take the water away from the unit and it eventually runs out the side of the home on the soil.

I am familiar with the float switch which turn hog advises. We used them in addition to a drain line from the pan which we refer ed to as an emergency drain pan. This was in Louisiana and Mississippi along the Gulf Coast.

most any a/c installer with a metal shop can make you one...some a/c, heat pump suppliers sell these for specific units ...these are called condensate pans and every unit installed in a attic or ceiling should have one and on some you can even install automatic condensate pumps to remove the water.....

I think you can get them at home supply stores. Our air handler is in the attic and it has one.
Good Luck.
