Most reptiles do not care for their young, but some crocodiles do.

Great question.

The most important thing to look at here, is whether crocodile hunting behavior is innate or if it is learned. If it is innate, you could argue that crocs take care of their young because their young are not able to take care of themselves. If the young crocs cannot hunt or find food for themselves they would need a mother to care for them.

If hunting behavior is learned, then they would stay with the mother to learn hunting behavior.

as a matter of fact yes they do care about their young and they hang out with them til about the age of 1 yr. the young ones feed themselves all mom does is it to try to ward off danger but sometimes she is late..
