No, a horizontal line connects one parent to the other parent. A vertical line drops down from that parental horizontal line to their child.

I believe that a verticle line, coming from the middle of the horizontal line connecting the (typically married) parents will lead to the child(ren). Hope that was the kind of answer you were looking for. :)
