are there any good rpgs like wow or guild wars that you dont have to pay for monthtly?I would also like it to be cheap or free.

The group is based on a very good book called Snowflower and the Secret Fan and you can create your own character or use one provided for you to use.
The background is: (from site) This Rpg Group is based on the book "Snowflower and the Secret Fan" In it two girls are forever Laotongs or "Old Sames" Snowflower presents herself to Lily with a fan on which she wrote "Nu Shu" a secret language for women in ninteenth-Century China. Lily is from Puwei and Snowflower from Tongkou. As the years pass, they send messages back and forth using this language. They in their young days both endure footbinding a painful process which horribly disfigures the feet and endure arranged marriage, shared loneliness, and the Joys and sorrows of Motherhood. But when there is a misunderstanding, the friendship suddenly threatens to tear apart.

Guild Wars is free, once you buy the software.
Fable: The Lost Chapters is a true RPG that doesn't have a monthly fee (it is also not online.)
There are MANY Korean MMORPGs that are free to download and play. Examples include Maple Story, Ragnerock Online, Heroes ONline, and Sicon of Fate. (and yes, there are english versions, though sometimes that english is a little broken.)
There are actually a lot more than just that, but I can't think of them right now. Wikipedia for free MMORPG, or Google for pages that are nothing but links to those MMORPGs.

WoW and Guild Wars aren't RPG's because they is not an end and there is not only 1 outcome. If you are longing for a game like them try Runescape.
