Value is determined by level of preservation ...availability and demand...of primary importance is how well preserved it is..
in a gem state and with all the steps in the base of the monument well defined and uninterrupted by contact marks or nicks...it can be worth as much as $90.00..
If it has any wear ...very nominal wear ...it will have no greater value than $0.25 if it has noticeable wear it will be worth only metal about $0.08

The 1954 nickel is not a rare date and is worth only a few dollars in mint state. In high circulated grade it is worth .25. Your chances of it being a full step nickel is not good.
