If they have proper plates or tags, they shouldn't be ticketed. As for what gives them the right, usually it is granted by the city if they are not part of the local police department. In most malls i've been to, the cops there ARE local police.

You have to understand some of these people are rent a cops and don't have the training others have. AND, some are regular police officers. Drive the vehicle to the police station and have the desk Sargent come out and view the car and tag. I took my father-in-law to the mall and yes, I got a ticket. I went to the local department, and did not flash my credentials, but told the desk Sargent I had a disabled person in the car, live an hour from this town, and received a ticket in the last 30 mins.

Desk Sargent went out, talked with my dad, and took car of the ticket. Hey, people make mistakes and so do cops. Its not the end of the world. consider all those that park in the handicap spots and walk better than most other people. They are driving a family members car with the tags, but NO ONE IN THE VEHICLE is handicapped at the time.

Sometimes if you have a hidden disability, and they see you park in a handicapped space they might give you a ticket, as a lot of people who are not handicapped actually drive vehicles with the tags but should not use the spaces unless the disabled person is in the car. two examples. 1 my tag is on my moms car, she never parks in a space unless I am with her. 2. my cousin's wife parked in a handicapped space without my cousin in the car. she got a ticket.

They represent the rights of the property(mall) owner. I cannot imagine why they'd ticket someone legally parked in a handicapped zone.

particular it somewhat is legal, particularly petty of a cop to try this yet a mall automobile parking lot isn't inner maximum with hundreds of persons strolling around and their vehicles, regardless of if the lot is owned with the aid of aim and/or the mall.
