I answered that the electrons were p electrons, but that was incorrect. I need help understand what the answer is and why it is that answer, please. ^-^

letter C - "d" electrons

Cu2+ forms when inner "d" electrons from the Cu are moved up to the valence level to give the Cu 2 valence e- and a 2+ charge.

physandchemteach, the question is referring to the NH3, not the Cu+2.

The answer is f, "Non-Bonding" or "lone pair".
