Carters have a bunch of How To guides that are pretty cool.

Mitre 10 also have a bunch of How to guides on their site:

There's a site called Resene that has an excellent "decorating inspiration gallery" with pictures and descriptions of tons of cool projects.

There's also this page as a good jumping off point;

Hi, across the Tasman. Depends on the type of project is it wood, steel, concrete, plaster, paper or what.
Try house maintenance or woodworker or what ever type magazines. Here in Australia I can go to the public library and find just about anything I need including the latest magazines on projects.
Looks like I might have to do a bit of cyberspace surfing the net as well.

With all due respect, no matter where you are, ONLINE suggests Global info is available.
As a contractor/DIY/Artist/Writer, I have a suggestion.
You state "So Many"...Choose projects you might most enjoy, passions you already have, things you'd like to do that are of use to you, and begin gently, in small steps, so that your accomplishments are something enjoyable During and after the fact.
Example: Bird Feeders are easy DIY, crafty projects that serve more than one purpose.
Projects that offer you something you can use, IE: a small table for your home.
DIY usually is defined by need (neccesity), desire, and/or boredom, or a notion to "learn" They should all be an enjoyable process in the progress.
Good Luck
