He claims many men wear mascara but don't admit it, and wear color contacts but people don't know. I'm not sure if I'm buying this. Is it common these days for straight men to do this?

Mascara has been part of lots of men's fashion looks over the years. Punk, new wave, goth, emo. Heck, I'm in Canada and I swear our Prime Minister wears mascara at press conferences. Colored contacts? If you're gonna wear contacts, why not tweak your eye color? Your boy might be sort of metrosexual, and possibly a bit vain, but that doesn't mean he isn't straight. Sounds like he's get a sense of style and he expresses it confidently. I don't think that's very common among straight men, but it's refreshing to see.

I have a nephew that wears eye liner, I'm not sure if he wears mascara or not. He is in a band and he is really into the 'dark' look. As for the contacts, what's wrong with a guy wanting to change the color of his eyes? Woman do it all the time. Now if he starts wearing red lipstick and dresses, then you need to worry. ; )

I can see a man doing this. Colored contacts aren't a big deal...even on a man. The mascara, well, if he has wimpy light colored eyelashes using mascara would be an option to dyeing them. As long as he isn't over-doing it with the mascara and trying to look like Frank N. Furter I think it is fine. Men are vain...especially as they get older. Think about it....it is nothing to see a man in the nail salon getting a mani/pedi...I mean big burly guys. It is now accepted. If he starts wearing women's under things and wants to get a breast enhancement then you worry.

Never heard of a man wearing mascara. I'd be a little leary unless he's in a band and all the guys wear makeup. Well, I wouldn't go for that either. It's weird.

We'll he's either taken the term 'metrosexual' and made a whole new meaning of it OR he's gay.

Perhaps he has little self confidence which is why he thinks he needs to look his best at all times?

To be perfectly honest, I'd be REALLY worried if my brother, father or partner started wearing mascara.

I guess he might be gay but hasn't come to realise / accept it yet.

Sure. Metrosexuals are becomming very popular now. Its a straight guy with good gay qualities. They prefer to be "pretty" but they are straight. I actually like it. Theres nothing wrong with a guy that takes care of himself and his image.

no it is not, the only time i have ever seen a straight man wear any type of make-up is when they are going to be performing and need it so the bright lights do not make their faces look pale. as for the contacts issue, why????

i think so...at least most of my friends use the color contacts, & quite a fair number use cosmetics to enhance their features...i luv it!!! why shouldn`t guys try to look their best??? it shows they take an interest in themselves & are proud of their appearance...i`m all for it!!!
