No, it is clear that they do not grasp the conequences. Otherwise they would sing another tune. Like lemmings they play follow the leader. WAKE UP PEOPLE! ISLAMO FASCISTS WANT TO KILL YOU, ME AND EVERYONE ELSE AND DESTROY THE USA!!

I think they do, because the consequences won't come home to roost for some time, and, in that time, they will enjoy some years of political dominance.
Keep in mind that, to liberal eyes, the threat of neo-con-fascists is /much/ more extreme and immediate than that of 'islamofascists.' There a couple of million muslims in the US, many of whom are home-grown Nation of Islam or simply moderates. There are 30 million pentacaustals who - as libs see it - want to reproductively enslave women, stifle free speach, and make America into a Theocracy, using the Republican party as thier willing political puppets, after which, they will be going door to door burning liberals at the stake.
If you were a liberal, would you want to be burned at the stake? Think about what that does to your carbon footprint!
Islamofascists, OTOH, are on the other side of the world, and, while they might like the idea of turning the US into a Theocracy under Sharia Law, possiblly including the frequent beheadings of liberals, they don't have a good prospect of doing so anytime soon. They have the middle east to consolidate first, then they'll probably move to reconquer north africa and west & south asia, before moving on to europe. Assuming the Russians and/or Chinese don't decide they're too dangerous not to be nuked, that is.
So they're not ignoring consequences, they're just prioritizing.

Every time our country has tried to impose our will for the last 75 years, on another, have lost. And every time there has been conflict in the Middle East, it remains still a mess.... the Crusaders gave up after 200 years. and frankly I think our position on this planet is to be a beacon of hope and give help to other countries, not a crusader to impose our way of life on them. We made this mistake in Vietnam, and ended up getting out of there as they beat down the doors at the embassy...we evacuated using helicopters. Well get out of this one the same way. We as a country are regarded as terrorists, not anyone else... sorry....

Why is the Nigerian yellowcake issue considered an "internal issue" by Bush? Why won't he come clean?

Surrender? To whom would you have us surrender? As I see it, no one is in charge of anything in Iraq so how can we surrender?
If we were going to go to war in Iraq, we should have really gone to war & taken them all out! We didn't do that, we just went after Suddam, well we got him & he is dead, so what the heck are we still doing there? Either fight a war or get out & stop the killing of American troops. I'm wondering if many really grasp the truth of the situation.

Do the jingoists here really grasp the fact that they see us as infidels on their sacred land and that when we leave they will stop attacking us. The people of that part of the world have been solving their differences for over 3000 years. Why should now be any different? Why do they have to be like us? Why can't we let them live in the 13th Century as they wish and spend our money on research and development that will get us out of a dependence on their oil ?

No, but they grasp the consequences of peace and stability for Iraq. That would be history crediting Bush with a successful policy and possible damage to democrats politically. Some would apparently rather have chaos and death in Iraq than that. I am forced to conclude that by Harry Reid's recent statements.

What is their "plan"? Do the cons really grasp how many Americans have died for this war? How many innocent Iraqi civilians have been in the wrong place at the wrong time and died because of it? The consequences are staggering.
