Same sicknesses any fish can get. Fungus, bacteria, parasite, etc.

When a fish gets sick, it is either introduced by another fish, feeder fish, dirty hands/objects entering tank, not cleaning the tank and filter assembly regulary, not doing regular water changes, among other things. Sometimes they can give themselves abrasions from bumping into things, sharp objects, and even the glass itself.

There is also a sickness that can come from many different things called HITH, read about it here: http://www.worldcichlids.com/diseases/Adamhith.html

Of course they are suseptible to any aquatic disease like any fish, but they are notorious for hole-in-the-head, which they can get easier then most fish and cichlids. There is no clear reason why they do get it, but poor water conditions, poor diet, stress from bad choices of tankmates, and poor breeding can all be factors.

Anything any other fish can get, except MAYBE "neon tetra disease" which does affect non-neon tetras as well.
