I heard they just make people unconscious, or make their legs feel really painful if shot there. Would it be a good idea to replace all civilian bullets with rubber bullets? The U.S. constitution gives it's citizens the right to bear arms for protection and defense, right? So if everyone had rubber bullets, they could defend themselves from assailants/robbers/etc by knocking them unconscious instead of killing them.
Hunting weapons w/ regular bullets could be kept on the hunting range or something.
This is only for civilian arms, not military.
Is this a good idea? or do I have facts messed up? or is it really stupid and hardly thought out?

No matter what we try to do about guns, you will always have the criminals that will not follow the laws. Lead is very easy to get and making bullets is also very easy. Remember guns do not kill people! If you take away the civilians means to defend themselves then all you will have left are the people who do not value human life with guns. Baseball bats have been used, knifes, I have even heard of a pencil being used to kill someone. If you do not care about human life then they will use whatever means possible. So I do not believe that rubber bullets is the solution, but I do have to admit that it is a great idea though. You should realize that there is know way that you could separate hunting ammunition's, trust me they would get into the wrong hands.

You can be killed by rubber bullets. There was a very famous case of it in Ireland when a rubber bullet went through a kitchen window and killed a woman washing dishes. 2 years ago a 19 year old girl was killed by a pepper ball fired by police officers in Boston. She was an innocent bystander hit by a wild shot. I think her name was Victoria Snellgrove if you want to look it up.

Also, I hate to tell you, but hunters don't go to "hunting ranges". They go to a National Wilderness Area or anotherplace designated by the US Forrestry Service, if not on private lands.

A good point to question and if rubber bullets were to be pointed in a fatal manner, let's say, up the nostril, in the ear drum, in the eye at close range then, my guess is that that individual would die.

In the Vancouver Riot, in 1994, a man was killed by a rubber bullet, when police hit him in the head.
So yes, rubber bullets can be lethal, although less lethal than regular bullets.

thats actually the smartest solution to gun control ive ever heard. But they can be fatal, but in the same way a bb gun is fatal. Even a paintball gun can be fatal

The criminals will still have the deadlier gun and kill the person trying to knock them out and hurt them. (law abiding citizen)
