Small Business Management (SBM) and then you can start your own business. Accounting will help too. From there do what you enjoy and do the best you can.
If, you enjoy writing you may be able to do freelance work. Also, learn things and write simple how to booklets that not expensive.
The reason I say SBM is 90 % of the businesses started fail within the first year mainly because of poor management. The people have a good idea, they can not make it work as they can not manage or put it in order. So, I tell people SBM is your first step to owning your own business. Another thing I tell a person, is work for someone doing what you want to do! Learn how they run their business, see who they buy from, sell to etc. In 1-2 years you gain a lot of free knowledge and get paid doing it.

haha... someone said computers... that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
That's what I've done for the last 10 years.... you know who is doing my job now in places where I've worked before? People in India that's who.
Yes, there are careers that involve computers that can be rewarding but they're stressful, very unstable, easy to offshore (I could do all the work from home so what's to stop them for paying someone in India $15/hour less than they pay me for doing the same job over the web that I do?
The biggest downside that I've found is that you constantly have to relearn stuff for no reason.
How many 50 year old programmers do you see employed today? Not many. That's because most of the **** they learned to do in the beginning is obsolete now, in fact I bet they've gone through learning 3-4 software platforms that are all obsolete already. And the main reason for that is to allow the big software companies to make more money.
See, software is not like cars, it doesn't rust, so they have to make it become obsolete. Sure there are times when improvements are welcome, but many times the newer systems cause more headaches than the problems they solve.
I would say that healthcare is going to be one of the most needed services and also CPAs will do well in the years to come.

It highly depends on your capabilities.
Depends on your IQ, your luck, your enterpreneural skills etc.
But frankly, you arent going to make a lot of money unless you put in the time and.or are a superstar and/or enjoy it.
You seem to want to have your cake and eat it too.
That said, perhaps a field to go into is one that is FLEXIBLE. That way you can leave the choice open as to whether you want to put in more hours at work for more cash, or more at home at the expense of cash.
To me Computers seem like the best bet for that, IF you have the aptitude for it.

be in business for yourself. anyways you dont need to be with your family 25/7. go to a field you like, except doctors i think they are the least around family profession. unless you can find a way to do so. anyways kid will go to school during the day so like 8 hours you arent with your kids- 2 hours should be sufficient and vacation time.
