Gliese 581 c, 120 trillion miles away

I've heard its not too much like earth (with what we know right now), but liquid water could exist there. The size is somewhat similar, even though its 5x bigger than earth. Its about the closest planet to Earth we've ever found, but keep in mind the first planets in other solar systems only began to be discovered within a decade of now

The New Scientist has the story
Its 20.5 light years away and five times as big as the Earth. I don't think that I'd like the gravity on there.

They've spotted the smallest, most earth-like planet yet detected orbiting another star. From it's position in orbit about the star, ( a red dwarf), and it's apparent mass (about 1.6X that of Earth), I'm hazarding a guess that we won't be vacationing there anytime soon.... But... we're getting closer to finding 'another' Earth....

All we know is that its gravity is twice that of earth and its temperature is like ours. It may have no atmosphere or it may be covered with sulfuric acid. Moving at space shuttle speed, we could get there in a mere 800,000 years

It's name is 581 C
