a friend of mine, her son was a preemie. she started solids at six months also, and after that, he didn't want the bottle anymore. he wanted real food, all the time! now he is a healthy chubby three yr old.
would you blame her though? after drinking the same stuff for six months & then getting a little variety & all these interesting tastes? i wouldn't worry if her bottles are decreasing, if she won't take it all together, that would be a problem to talk to your doctor about. add some rice cereal to her bottles, just make the hole bigger with a safety pin.

I see this question every day, and I even asked this one myself! It's really hard to say why babies do the things they do, like reject their most loved possession!! But there are several things that could be causing yours to do so. First off, maybe your giving too many solids? In which case, offer the bottle first not allowing your baby to see any other option. Next, it could be teething. This is why my baby rejected the bottle for awhile. It seemed like after he cut the first two he got better with the bottle again. Or, last but not least, an ear infection. Sucking makes the ear hurt worse as well as causes pain to radiate down the jaw. Good luck, and try not to worry!!

She is content with baby food. Give her a sippie cup. That is a good way to break her early from the bottle. However, do not stop formula. She still needs that nutrition. But hey, if she does not want a bottle, lucky for you, you won't have that fight when it comes time to take it away. Just feed her baby food and make sure she is getting SOME food....my docs always told me with both of my kids, "they will eat when they get hungry"! Good luck!

Is she congested? If she's got a stuffy nose, the bottle won't appeal because she feels like she's suffocating - she can't eat and breathe at the same time. Get the bulb aspirator and suction it out.
OR
Is she getting teeth? Run your finger along her gums - you should be able to feel them right under there. If she's also drooling a lot and sticking her hands in her mouth - that's another sign. Try giving her a little Tylenol 30 minutes before feedings.

I agree with above - call the dr. Is it breastmilk in the bottle or formula? Breastmilk is best - but if you're on formula, check for lactose intolerance -- maybe she needs soy or some other alternative?
Definately ask the dr.

She could just be ready to ween. can she hold her own bottel? If so you could try a Sippy cup that is ment for youger babies. it has a slower flow so they don't choke. My son started his sippy at about 7 -8 months. so you could try that. My recomentation find a slow flow Nubby cup.

Talk to the pediatrician. The little one needs all the calories she can get.
