It is not a tiger but a snow leopard. The date is linked to the animal and is not the date the coin was made.

The NPBEC could be Russian. May be a gold coin and worth more than $10. Obviously.

I can not find it under Mongolia, at least up to the year 2000. It sounds like a world wildlife coin from either Russia or one of the now Independent states. With out knowing what is exactly on both sides, it would take too long to look up. I am not sure what the date means. Every country seems to want to get in on the wild life series so there are a lot of animal coins out there. Sorry but I can't help without more info or a scan of the coin.

it is atleast worth the going price of scrap metal.
because 1776 is an important date in history, it could very well be a forgery.

check for changes in color along the sides of the coin. modern coins are made of several layers of different metals. you may just have a quarter encased in another metal

next look for signs of wear, nothing can go 230 years w/o a little contact with something else. is it tarnished?details rubbed smooth?

go to your local collectables store or just wait till Antiques Roadshow rolls by. If real, that could be worth several hundred to thousand dollars
