to answer your question, just start small with 1% increases in speed until it causes problems like crashes and such then back it off 5% thats a good rule of thumb. and i won't tell you not to do it, it's your computer do what you like.

if a 3.2 p4 with 2 gig of ram isn't fast enough for you... you've got some issues.

Don't try to overclock it if any of the two apply to you:
1) You don't know how to overclock a processor
2) You don't know that overclocking will drastically reduce your processor life and should not be done under general circumstances.

It's like feeding a brand new unleaded car jet fuel... yeah it will work for a short time and be really cool... but really "F" you over quick.

I have the same processor speed and you're pretty much limited by the amount of overclocking that your motherboard allows. I can crank mine up to 3.7 and if you've got adequate cooling you should be fine. I wouldn't recommend doing so though because You don't really get that dramatic of an increase.

I not do this, but, if I remember correct it like 10%. So, I would not push it more than 3.5 GHz?? Be sure you use a good cooling fan.
Spl has some good advice. I not really think the extra speed be seen in performance, but, that my opinion.
This link my help, I not sure it about your exact processor.
