NO its the truth. People that say the war cant be won are right and no people that say that are just telling the truth they dont have negative things to say all the time. The U.S has an ego that needs to get put in check. We are not the ONLY superpower you know.

Because they realize this war should have never been started. If it could be won, why hasn't it been? President bush promised it would only take a few months, but 4 1/2 years later and still no end in sight...

First what is winning going to entail ?

Was it regime change ? Then you won Why are you still there ?

Is it making Iraq into little America ? In that case no matter how good your soldiers are their political masters are idiots that can not be achieved - Blame the mission not the soldier

Is winning to kill every last "insurgent" in their own nation , and forever be a force in the domestic life of someone else

That's it stupid mean and evil - It can't be achieved and it is a death sentence for a % of soldiers for centuries to come - Iraq has to overcome the problems of Iraq -

Is winning - establishing a permanent military base so as to better strike at other interests close to the middle east ?

Then it is winnable but completely mismanaged and has been deceitful in it's presentation to the public - If the amount of resource is continually spent as it is even that objective could take 10-15 years when it doesn't have to

Is it to police Iraq forever ? To occupy Iraq as Russia occupied Poland or Germany occupied Holland ?

History tells us that can go on for centuries and in the end it is not winnable - Again blame the guy who came up with the stupidity of that plan

So is the "war" in Iraq winnable ?

Tell me what the US hopes to win and then I will answer

People get mad because every war waged by American soldiers has to be winnable by the "good guys"

Problem is they don't know what win is here so how can it be achieved - Too much emotiona and not enough thought -
No plan no definition = failure

Emotions = anger at the concept -

That would depend on what your definition of victory is. If your definition is the creation of a democratic society in Iraq, then you are correct, we cannot win alone. The Iraqi people must step up and take some responsibility and get involved in shaping their nation and government. If victory is the removal of Saddam Hussein, the destruction of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, and giving the Iraqis an opportunity to create a democratic society, then we have already won as all of these have been achieved.

How happy would YOU be if you spent Billions of dollars on something you thought you wanted or needed and people kept telling you it was a waste of money? You'd find that a little hard to accept too, right?

For my part I "might" agree that the war could be won IF someone, anyone, would tell me WHAT WINNING MEANS. Nobody has in 4 years, and I'm not holding my breath.

The war was won a month after we started. It's now just a matter of mopping up.
But to expand on your hallucinations, if we didn't win the war then who did?

Primarily because someone who is the Majority Leader of the Senate should not be making statements like that.

Don't you think that terrorists watch TV or get access to news. They can ratchet up the attacks if they know that if they do, more people like Reid will say it is lost.

The war can be won, but it take significant loss of life on both sides. That's just the way it is.

They don't want to believe that all their faith in Bush was for waste. So when we pull out it will be known as the war that we could have one but those dang democrats pulled out the troops too soon. Yawn, they always find someone to put the blame on rather than themselves.

Because it is asinine and it gives encouragement to the enemies of the people of Iraq that want peace and stability.

Our military is doing a great job, but there's just so many idiots strapping bombs where their boobs are, and they're cranking 'em out way tooo often. Who is financing these idiots?
