I am in a class that examines the history of the United States from World War II to present and we have a test tomorrow. One of the Identifications on the study guide is Berwyn, Illinois but I do not recall my professor mentioning it in class. What makes Berwyn, Illinois important from a historical perspective from the 1960s to present day? Is there a specific event?

For starters, Ogden Avenue in Berwyn is part of the Historic Route 66. That's why there is the "Spindle" monument. That's why there is the annual "Vintage Car Show" and Cartopia.

And between the 1920's and the 1940's, Berwyn boasted of being the fastest growing city in the United States, according to the Berwyn Development Corporation .
