When Phillip11 ruled the church and state were one.A king was all powerful. The king could gain great favor from the religious hierarchy by delivering more and more lost souls to the church. When Phillip turned the "Inquisition" into an appartus to steal property and wealth for his own purpose. He appeased the church by granting them tax free holdings and the delivery of adherants to the true faith. No where was this more evident than in the new world when 1000s of none believers were saved by the inquisition.Sent to the glory of thier heavenly father. The ones, who were'nt saved were only too willing to confess and accept this powerul religion. The king he only got the land.
