Cumulonimbus-a storm cloud associated with rain, thunder, and sometimes hail, wind, or tornadoes. Range from about 25,000 ft to 50,000+ ft high.
Stratus-low level clouds many times with rain or snow, not thunderstorms.
Cirrus-high level clouds formed from ice crystals

1) A nice and sunny day with partly cloudy skies. 2) A sign of an approaching storm system. 3) A sign that thunderstorms could develop later on. If they become cumulonimbus clouds then that means thunderstorms are on their way.
