before tryouts-
Practice a lot before tryouts.
Stay calm.
hydrate before tryouts.
get a good sleep the night before the tryouts.
do not eat heavy lunch at school.

at tryouts-
do not abuse your racket if you lose a point or game.
do not abuse the tennis balls.
do not use bad words
stay calm in games
do not tense
shake hands after a game.
wear good tennis cloths.
be friendly to others.
these are the things that will impress your coach and be a good player.
Try to win most of the games you play in tryouts.

Be prepared. If you're a freshman, than ur lucky cuz most coaches like to accept really young players because they cud change over their years in hs. Just be calm, and dont try to impress the coach. Often, u screw up if u try to do something crazy. Just play normally, but play ur best. Good Luck
This is my last year in hs tennis, so i kno ALOT.

A book I read before the tennis season began- "Winning Ugly" by Brad Gilbert.

My advice is to keep playing your style of tennis in tryouts. Don't change it because your nervous or anything, that's most likely the form you'll be best at. Give it your all, and leave it all on the court. Good Luck!

To try out for Tennis:

1. Practice your forehand, backhand, and serving techniques.
2. Practice your footwork technique.
3. Practice hitting the tennis ball.
4. Brush up on Tennis by using the Internet and read books about it.
5. Build your upper body strength by doing some weightlifting.

Play how you like to play, don't try and emulate anybody there. Don't try anything new. Also-don't get so nervous that you just tap the ball to get it over. If they see you nervous at tryouts and not playing the best you can, then they will think it will be the same in games and you won't seem as good.
