It's a pretty dusty place, but with a surface area equal to Africa I guess it'd take a long time to vacuum up all that grey dirt.
Between July 1969 to December 1972, twelve US Apollo astronauts walked on the Moon. Not one of them was a woman. There were no women in the Apollo program, nor in the preceding Mercury and Gemini programs.
There's every possibility that a woman will be among those NASA Constellation program astronauts returning to the Moon in about 13 years' time. The first woman on the Moon or on Mars is probably in grade school right now.

Well that's not to say that we haven't sent a woman into space. I guess we just haven't made as many trips to the moon as to space?? really don't know. But Sally Ride was the first woman into space.

Because female astronauts are likely to grow irate when their husbands are caught cheating on them, traveling cross country with the intentions of killing both the husband and his lover, and all the while wearing a diaper in order to make time.
;) Just kidding. I'm female, but, that answer was in order.

Reality check
All the astronauts of the 60s were test pilots. In those days, women were not recruited as test pilots. Simple as that.
We live in more enlightened times now (though you would not think it from some of the questions and answers on this forum).

Since the capsule was about the size of two phone booths, there was no privacy at all and hygiene night be a problem

Because women are bad scientists!! Also, because bonking is not allowed on the moon just in case they produce off-springs ho can't survive anywhere!!
