If you are skipping a month with periods, then you should go to a gynecologist and get checked out to see what is wrong (hormones or what)... yes you can swim if you wear tampons and bring extras to change when needed...

Look dont worry I had almost the exact same problem as you! Its perfectly fine to wear a tampon. I was scared the first time too cuz my friends bday party was a pool party. Wear a tampon. The tampon has a perfectly good instructional packet within to help with any questions. In the water your period naturally lightens. It will start back up again once dry. So it seems you like pads better so wear a pad until u change into your bathing suit and just put the tampon on. Have your mom help you if you want. Go swimming for desired amount of time and dont leave the wet tampon on for longer than necessary, but then if you have a dry tampon leave it in for no longer than 8 hours. Hopefully this helped

Don't be afraid of tampons, when wearing a tampon, you can swim with no worries. I would recommend using a plastic applicator, they are easier to use. Also, practice with a tampon before your party, maybe even wear one in the bathtub so you will know what it feels like and you will be assured that it will stay in. Good luck and happy birthday!

Hey girl,
Sorry to break it too you but you need to wear a tampon...they're really not that bad....just wear one. you won't regret swimming at your own 13 birthday party....it's the big 13!!!! ...the day when you officially become a teen. It will be fine...o and just change the tampon every 2-4 hours depending on how heavy your flow gets...you don't have to make a big deal about it...just go with the flow...literally..LOL!!!Just have Fun...o and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Good Luck!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of womanhood. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to "speed up" your period. It basically comes and goes as it pleases and there's not a lot you can do about it without the assistance of birth control. So your choices are, use a tampon, or get a pair of shorts to go over your bottoms, or just don't swim. Sorry but this is something we've all had to deal with. Its inconvenient but part of being a woman.

If you wish to swim at your party you should wear a tampon. If worn correctly the tampon should catch your menstral flow. Just make sure that you check and change the tampon accordingly.

Reguardless of what some may say, the bleedeing will NOT stop when you get in the water!!!!! Trust me, I asked my mother, and she's a registerd nurse. you will need a tampon, but not just one, and be sure to get the right absorbency. change every 5-6 or 7 hours depending on flow, RELAX, you will be fine, don't you love being a woman??

If you are comfortable with the thought of tampons, you can use them to make sure you don't have problems while swimming.

You're gonna have to start using those pretty little things called tampons. Don't worry the bleeding will stop when you hit the water.
