i have a book on dean and it tells all about his childhood to the day he died,,,, it is noted that dean was in a gay club and let guys stump there cigs out on his body, his co star in rebel was inlove with dean,,,, which is noted,,, i to think james dean was a hunky guy,,, i love watching him,,, u can put dean in the year 2007 the way he was then and he wouldnt be out of place,,,, he was a very advanced guy in fashion. what a guy.... i sort of felt so sorry 4 him when he lost his mom. the things he got up 2 as a child,,,, threading string and oat meal to a chicken and so on,,,,

There was never any published mention of this as being the case. He dated co-stars and women flocked to him. This was a time in the movie industry when if someone was gay, you'd never know about it. Rock Hudson was of this era.
James Dean did not live long enough to be much more than a flash in the pan, but what a flash. Just a feeling on my part but believe he was very much into women, not men. His ability to show "teenage angst" by today's standards may make him look " too sensitive" and may be judged by current views. Unless there is an expose' out there somewhere, I am going with straight as to his sex-life.

A friend of mine who is a film maker did a documentary about James Dean. He never came across any information about him being gay. It's an amazing documentary that has a lot of interviews with the people who knew James Dean before he was a star. It's called James Dean: Born Cool. I included the link to Amazon below. I'm not a big documentary fan and I was really touched by this one (and relieved to be able to give a good feedback to a friend!).

They say he hung out with a fast crowd and on the day he died he had strong words with rock Hudson he was known (but not well ) to be gay.. But as it was he never himself came out of the closet there were many men and women that said they were lovers of James Dean .
With his bad boy Image and fast lifestyle I prefer him as a tough womanizing fast driving legend than as well gay
There are a few older movie stars I would rather see there movie persona than there real life self. to me he will all ways be the James Dean of Rebel and east of Eden.

I have no idea, but he was really really really cute....I was watching Rebel without a cause the other day.. oh my god!!! he looked so sexy, nothing great the acting, but looks were awesome...

he was a great actor .. died way too young .. gay or not it should never be an issue or take away from his talent

there is really no way to tell or know for sure. I would go with no he wasn't, but we'll never know.
