My friend is 16 and her mom is throwing a baby shower for her. What should I get her baby for under $20? And remember it's gonna be a newborn baby girl. Also tell me where to get it and support your answer with links too if you can. Thanks!

Honestly....you should get on Ebay and see what you can find on there. I am ALWAYS finding things (nice, new things!) on Ebay for my diaper cakes and that is how I stay competitive with my pricing. You will be AMAZED at what $20.00 will get you on Ebay.

The coolest thing I have seen lately is a turtle that projects constellations onto the ceiling of baby's nursery. It goes for a little more than your budget.....but, man, WHAT AN AWESOME GIFT THAT WOULD BE!!

Here is a link to one of these selling on Ebay:

If that isn't your speed or what you had in mind....just spend about an hour on there looking around. You will be amazed at what you will find.

Other ideas for your budget:

A gift basket with great bath products for the new baby.

Customized onesies for the new baby girl (Pick up a five pack of plain white onesies, some iron-on transfer paper, and make 5 personalized onesies for the new baby girl....unique and custom made just for the baby!)

Diapers are always great....

Some 3-6month clothing items (because momma is likely to get a lot of newborn and 0-3month items but not a whole lot of things in this size!!)

Whatever you give....I am sure it will be from the heart. That is all that matters!!

Have fun shopping!!

What i did for my friend, was wait until after the baby shower was over and found out what she didnt get. That way you can be sure you wont buy something someone else did and it makes up for something she may have really wanted and didnt recieve. Be sure to let her know if you plan to do this so she doesnt feel like you didnt want to get her anything. If not diapers are one of the best things i got for my baby shower because they go so fast and are so expensive. You might also want to think about getting some larger clothes like 6-9 months because most everyone else wants to buy the small clothes that are adorable and dont think ahead about what she will need a few months down the road when all the small and cutsie clothes are too small for her baby.

I would get her the book called Baby 411. Amazon.com has it, and I am sure any B&N would have it too. Being 16 and a new mom is going to be scary at first and this is the best quick reference book for any baby related questions. I found it to be the best. Also the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child is a great book on getting baby on a sleep schedule. Include a card telling her that you are there to support her (lots of teenage moms lose alot of friends after the baby is born and the novilty wears off) I had my first child at 32 and I felt like I was too young- I can't imagine what it would be like at 16. Some of my best girlfriends had children at 17 and it was hard for them. Just let her know that she can count on you to help now and again and that you will make time to visit and support her. Trust me- that will mean alot...just be sure you mean it too.

That is insane!!!!!!! I've never understood baby registry...either way a list is a list. Why can't you split it with another guest and buy used....that's what I would do. A used pump can be just as good as new, same with the bobby, and really anything you can wash and reuse. Then as for the other stuff go cheap!!! Who says it has to be Baby's R Us and all name brand top of the line stuff? I bought a box of pads and cream and bottles for myself for $30 at walmart. You can get a used boppy for $15-20 at Once Upon a Child. The breast pump you can get for about $50 at walmart too and that's single electric. So you're looking at now about....$100 tops. If she can't be greatful for that then she's selfish. Heck my babyshower I told them what I needed but didn't expect much. A stroller, carseat, and daipers is all I needed. I didn't care what brand or how old as long as it worked!

well, i am pregnant and i would say that the best gifts are gift cards to places she is going to frequent like jewel-osco, dominicks or even walmart or target. this way she can get what she needs that nobody bought for her at the shower. or it can even come in handy is she would need something between paychecks and is low on cash. think of it as well... a security blanket for her and her new bundle of joy! even if it is only $20, it can buy a pack of diapers and some formula for a baout a week or so! oh and sign her up at websites like pampers.com or huggies.com or similac.com or all of them. they send her coupons every month that way that are way better then the ones you get from the store itself, and print up a bunch for her from the internet too so she can start stocking up on some essentials, then just bring her some randomly after baby is born to stay close and show that at least someone cares and wants to support HER too! dropping off coupons each week can turn into a mini (yet much needed) therapy session for this new mommy! tell her congrats! and god bless!

Diaper and wipes are always good because babies go through lots those. Also sleepers, onsies, recieving blankets, etc. in a variety of sizes are good gifts as well. Shop Wal-Mart or Target they have low prices. You can get a package of either 2 or 3 sleepers for $10 and a package of 5 onsies for $10 or less ( I can't remember what the price was now). You can check out their websites for baby products.

Yep, I say diapers. Also a Diaper Genie, great for poopy ones. Wash cloths, shampoo, baby wash. Anything that you can't have enough of. Pj's for all ages, anything that is a little more expensive that a mom might not want to spend money on. A nice lamp for a themed nursery. A beautiful embroidered scrapbook for future us or anything engraved (cup and spoon set) And last but not least, BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS, they never get old and will be cherished for ever.

Wal-mart always has all the basics. A case of diapers is always appreciated (or a package in your price range). Try to find out what she already has (ask her mom). I was given these bibs that I really like, I think the brand name is Kooshies (found at Wal-mart). They are really good, especially for when they get older and eating messy foods, because they are water proof and don't let let food soak through and they have a pocket on the front to catch crumbs etc. They wash really well too. Another great idea is a baby proofing kit for the house! always necessary!

Baby showers are usually more than 20 plp, sometimes you receive an invitation telling you what they need/want. But if that is not your case then Diapers are the best, also a good kit for the baby like brush, nailcutter, lotions, termometer are good too.

Diapers and wipes - not just newborn size diapers either. Put them in a small pretty basket lined with some baby washcloths or receiving blankets.
