The discovery of this planet is HUGE to the science community. It is the first extrasolar world that could support life. But, it would take much more than 100 years. It would take a craft moving at 50mps, 76000 years to get there. Travel to that planet won't be feasible in this century and I doubt it will be in the next.

The planet is nor said to be inhabitable .Just the same temperature as the earth. We don't even know if it has an atmosphere. If you could travel the speed of the space shuttle, it would take you 800,000 years to get there. No I don't care.

LMFAO... I heard read about that yesterday...How do these scientists determine a planet 120 trillion miles has temperatures similar to earth????? Oh I get it same intelligence group that said WMD's were in Iraq. I wonder why all the insane people are either in politics, a scientist working for government, or law enforcement. Maybe i'll care when i can travel a million miles a second.

so it would take 1000 years to get there using our space ships as you know them but what do you say if I told you that the ''government'' has some thing that will get there in less then a year. and whats not to say that it (that planet) isn't a planet that we (humans) didn't already live there and ''nuked'' that world and we got this one (earth) to do it all again.

if its gonna take 1000 years to get there, then they r gonna have to send a lot of people on a huge spaceship with supplies to last that long. i think its pretty cool that there is a planet like earth, and its possible there if life on it, but i think it would be too hard to travel 1000 years....where would all the fuel come from?

Yes, if our sun explodes where will we go? By the time it explodes, we may have the technology to go to the new planet (581c).
