No its not. if you know your oil is full dont worry. It is a common problem on the R6 and R1 from 98-2001. One way to help it go out is to just top off the oil and put a little extra in to bring it just a tad past the full mark. usually helps. Its a design flaw in oil sensor set up. You are fine.

Yamaha Sports Plaza, in Washington State. Around $150 (including shipping). I used them to buy parts to rebuild my R6 tranny, and they were great.

if your in kent,wa you can go to bent bikes
but if thats outta your way try craigslist all local sellers and buyers no shipping and you can look at the item in hand and in person.
