Did Queen have the same popularity in the US as it did in the UK?

Look into the phenomenon refered to as "the British invasion" that was in the '60s. I think there is also "the second British Invasion" that happened in the 70s to mid 80s.
Besides the Spice Girls and Garbage, there hasn't been a big UK hit since the mid 80s. There was an attempt to bring some white female rappers from the UK, but live rap acts in general do not do well in the U.S. and now rap acts are not selling well at all.

Any English band in the 60's, too -- Peter & Gordon and Herman's Hermits. Queen is very popular over here. Love Freddy Mercury.

H*ll yeah Queen had great success. They didn't do a whole themed week on American Idol last season for no reason!!! Ever hear of the songs BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, or WE WILL ROCK YOU? Def Leppard is another band that had great success in the US. Can't think of any others right now.
