Many scale models - just scale down some more by dividing by 10, 20 or whatever number makes the size convenient.

The distances are hard the scale because everything is so far apart. If you scale down to a size where the Solar System fits on a 8x11 sheet of paper the sun is just a milimeter or so in size and the planets are specks.

You would need a lot of space:

-----------------------------
The Pluto Unit as part of the Voyage scale model of the Solar System on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Pluto is at the Smithsonian Castle, some 1,926 feet (587 meters) from the model Sun in front of the National Air and Space Museum. Pluto and its moon Charon are just visible in the glass. Relative to Voyage’s grapefruit-sized model Sun in Washington, DC, a model of the nearest star to the Sun, Proxima Centauri, would be the size of a Cherry on the California coast.

kumorifox has the right idea but he misplaced a decimal point. Look up the diameters of the sun and the earth, and you'll find that the sun is about 870,000 miles across, and the earth about 8,000 miles across. That means the sun is (870,000/8,000) = 109 times as big as the earth. (You'll get the same answer if you find the sizes in km rather than miles.) That means your model sun has to be 109 times as big as your model earth. model sun = 109 × 30 cm = 3270 cm = 32.7 meters. (Ten times bigger than what kumorifox said.) That's more than 100 feet in diameter. Good luck with your model!
