They are still thought by many to be the anti-military party after Vietnam.

People are fickle - they may support a pull out now but the Dems will be slammed if there are future terrorist attacks on US soil.

They also don't realize that they will also be held accountable for the geonocide that will occur in Iraq because of the dramtically increased secular violence and by setting an artificial timetable for premature withdrawl, that any future conflicts the U.S. is involved with, all they have to do is hold out long enough for politicians to pretend they are generals.
War is never a popular political choice. These Dems are using that unpopularity to get votes. It's not a popularity contest, it's our national future they are screwing with.

...even if they are right

What funding is getting cut? With the current bill Bush is getting all of the money he asked for plus an additional $9 billion. Seems to me the pull out time frame (start pulling out troops by Oct 2007) is just what the Iraqi government needs to get their act together. They need to realize that our involvement is not an open ended, never ended thing. If Bush decides to veto the bill then HE will be the one guilty of cutting the military funding.

Lets just face it, America is not the most popular country right now. Terrorist attacks on American soil are inevitable as long as our foreign policy remains the way it is. Dems are just trying to get out of a country where we arent wanted in the first place. So it makes sense to pull out because there is nothing left for us to do there.

What the future holds is beside the point.
The only thing the Democrats are thinking is how to slap George Bush silly, and cutting funding for the troops is the only thing they can imagine. Talk about having blinders on.

Like John McCain said on 'The Daily Show' last night: "we're there, that's all that matters". How we got there, why we got there are moot points now. We have to do the responsible thing and follow through on our actions. I don't want to be there, I don't want any of our troops there, but that is beside the point. We are there, and we need to be there until things are more secure for the Iraqi civilians.
It is our fault things are as unstable as they are, and it is our responsibility to make them better, regardless of cost.

Unfortunate, but that's the way it is. Life is never easy.

It doesn't matter, it's the right thing to do. The Right will blame anything that happens on democrats if they don't like it.

We can stay in Iraq for the next 100 years and still suffer a terrrorist attack here at home.

The best thing to do is to put the trillions of Iraq war dollars to work building a more secure America, starting with our borders.

No they won't. They'll get the blame from hardcore Conservatives, but that would happen anyway. The rest of the country realizes that Bush left us vulnerable by deploying the entire National Guard to Iraq, leaving no one to defend our borders at home.

I'll take the unproven truths of the Dems over the Documented LIES and falsehoods of this Administration any day of the week. Realizing that your point of view puts you in the minority, and then rationalizing why---that's your job.

18 fools with box cutters---remember--memo's on Condie's desk warning of this specific threat. A hearing before the 9/11 commission with Cheney in his ear at all times, a war based on lies---GET A CLUE--fearmonger to yourself on your own time.

If the Republicans were so worried about our National Security--then our Border's would be managed--instead of remaining pourous entrance points, our ports would be more thoroughly inspected--rather than that failed intiative to privatize them with a suspect nation, the 9/11 commission recommendations would be signed into law--instead of being threatened with a veto over a simple labor clause and our National Guardsmen and women would be here to beef up security instead of trying to acquire a business victory in GWB's quest for Oil.

the dems do NOT want to pull out right now, they want a timetable for a withdrawal, this will force the Iraqi government to get it's act together

and to be perfectly honest we have a better chance of stopping future terrorist attacks on US soil if we stop being anchored to a policing role in Iraq and instead redeploy our troops more efficiently to fight terrorist cells all over the world

I can't believe the length the Dems are going through in this. Harry Reid saying "the war is lost"(I'd have him up for treason) and that Pelosi woman not making time to see General Patreaus. Lol, I find it horrible that if I live once the terriorists come here in the next few years I might have to wear a berka:(. I hope the whole group of Politicians in Washington DC get their acts together and truely support the troops, because they are really doing a great job in Iraq.Even if the Dems try to hide it.
