i think Barbara Walters was saving face

Interesting question. I think ABC wanted her to tone down her rhetoric and shy would not agree. After the "bite me" and crotch grabbing and cursing in front of the woman's conference I think they needed to do something. I mean seriously, how uncouth. And you especially do not talk and behave that way in front of the underage scholarship winners. Yes, the probably hear that language at school but we are supposed to set an example as adults. I really use to like her when she had her own show. Never missed it. I find her to be a bully, loudmouthed, disrespectful, and down right crude at times. She ALWAYS talked over you if you were trying to voice a different opinion. It's sad, but I am glad she is going.

I starred you for the good question.

Interesting question. I think the story, as announced, was true. ABC stands to lose ratings without the controversy Rosie stirs up. Besides, what does anyone have to gain by lying? Barbara could save face (not to mention dignity and credibility) much more effectively if she admitted that she let Rosie go, that putting her on in the first place was a mistake that can now be rectified by not renewing Rosie's contract, if that were the truth.

Well, I think she was told that her contract is not going to be renewed and was probably asked to leave. That is why she came back with her usual "it is all your fault" statement. She is a moron! It is obvious that Barbara Walters could not even imagine that Rosie will screw this show up so badly.

I am sure Rosie will get her own show back, she just needs to leave The View alone... the sooner the better.

Ya the timing with her behavior from the conference and today's announcement is pretty coincendental. I think she was let go and to save her reputation they made up this lame excuse. In my opinion i think the View's days are numbered and i think next year will be its final season. Barbs bores the hell out of me and Joy and Elizabeth just can't carry the show. Unless they replace Rosie with someone big - they won't survive.

I think it was leave or be fired. Walters has been caught in the middle of Rosie and Donald and she has more in common with Donald then she does with Rosie.

I think they "talked to her" about changing her outspoken ways and said they wouldn't renew her contract. Of course she wouldn't agree. She doesn't need the money, but used the View to voice her loud opinions. I think ABC is fed up with her and they'd rather keep the View on the air and have lower ratings.

it didn't appear so on today's show, if anyone should be fired it's joy behar, gosh she is a pain. her winey voice alone gives you the willies. next elizabeth, nasally winey also. joy just talks right over her, noone lets her finish as they too are bored with her, she has no knowledge...cute but dah!!! Rosie and Barbara stay....
