All they do is talk about their cars and weatlh and the girls they do! And people buy their album! I love hip pop myself, but we have got to admit that the lyrics sucks and are not helping the black community! I mean, somebody who wanna learn english is not going to listen to rap because it's going to take him 600 steps back!
Hip hop, yeah, it's a culture but damn...

I agree with you completely. I like music that has meaning and feeling. Whether that be rap, rock, country, hip hop, R&B or whatever. If it sounds good and it evokes some sort of feeling (but isn't corny); then it's good music. Whatever happened to the way rap was back in the day about important, meaningfull stuff? I honestly don't care how rich you are or how shiny your metal teeth are.

Not all rap has a bad "rap". Try Kanye West, Outkast, or Nas even. You know when hip hop artists talk about things non se-x, etc.. they get pushed aside as not being real rap. That is bogus because music shouldn't be based on talking bout that always. Not all rap is about s-ex, money and drugs. There are great lyrical rap songs like as I said. Note listen to some positive songs and turn off the songs you dislike. Some people like it some don't.You know a lot people complain you aren't alone I seen this .. by all races. Hip Hop is music that's universal and again there are positive songs out there. Not all hip hop is bad in general. :)

Well, all rap ain't like this. Alot of this wack rap is in most of the mainstream rap. A lot of the rap music today, has been sold out to the mainstream, big record labels. In the mainstream, you can find plenty of examples of rappers talkin about "cars and wealth and the girls they do!" For some reason, these are the kinds of things these rappers and record labels think we want to hear. So, a lot of people who listen to the radio and watch TV hear the same thing over and over again and begin to think that this is what all rap is about. Then people form negative stereotypes about it, just like how some people form negative stereotypes against a race they know little about. And, you start to here all of these ingnorant comments against it, such as, "rap is crap." But, of course, all of it aint. There are just as many great rappers as there are bad. These other, better rappers take risks at creating different, more creative and better music. Record labels see this risk taking as a chance of losing money. So, they sign these same weak rappers because they don't want to take the chance of losing money. And, because people support these wack rappers and keep buying their albums, a lot of us are unfortunately exposed to this corruption.

Yeah, I kinda feel the same way you do. I wish that rappers would stop talking about the bling-bling and cars and just rap about something else. They should rap about things in the media or things that affect them personally. I think that people would have greater respect for rappers if more of them talk about things that are personal to them. Eminiem has rapped about all different types of people, George Bush, Kim, and more. Having negative content doesn't always sell the most. Eminiem rarely talks about the streets in his albums, and he has sold more records than every new artist that has emerged in the last 4 or 5 years combined.
