Of course you can use Wikipedia, just not as the only source. The proper use of an Wikipedia )and any other encyclopedia) is to use it as source for further reading, not as a definitive source (Ifound, for example, errors in Microsoft Encarta). While normally encyclopedia entries are written by authorities in the field and reviewed by others, wikipedia entries can be written by anybody. However, these can be very useful as starting point for your research.
You can do your research the old-fashioned way: type the keyword in your favourite search engine (Yahoo, google, etc). For this particular subject, you can find information in the astronomy magazines (www.astronomy.com, www.skyandtelescope.com, etc); your search engine will also give links to web pages from NASA, or on www.space.com
You can also find plenty of images you can use on these web sites.

Go to wikipedia and check out the links at the end of the article. Those are a good place to start, and you don't have to reference wikipedia.

Wikipedia usually references other web pages.
Go to the wiki page you need, and scroll to the bottom to see the links where people got the info from.
Reference those links in your assignment. :)
