My best friend's mom died of cancer last year when we were in 6th grade. I'm really close with her but i don't know what to say when ever topics of death,moms,cancer or things like that come up. I want to talk to her about it but we both get extremely sad all the time about it.

Just be there for each other, and maybe both go to counteling.

Your friend is going through a lot and she does need to talk about it but maybe you should let her bring it up just make sure you let her know anytime she needs to talk about anything you are there most daughters have their mothers until they are in there 40's at least and my stepfather in law is almost 70 and his parents are still alive!
She on the other hand is at an age where is needs her mom and now she is gone and not just for a weekend forever
So you really need to be there for her be a friend and let her know you are there when she needs you and have her over to your house where she can talk to your mom about stuff
who know that may do her good
but if she says no then leave it at that b/c it could only make her mad that she no longer has a mom like you do.

That is an awkward situation...be there for her...ask her if she wants to visit her moms grave on mothers day may 13th..and you can go with her. Let her know she can talk to you about anything, you wont' judge her you just want to help her through this~ Things will get easier with time..but it will always be with her..help her through this* :)
