the hero of the movie cape fear walks into his teen daughters bedroom and sees her in her underwear, and they have a conversation. the girl is not upset that her dad sees her in her underwear, is it typical for parrents to see their teen kids in their underwear or was this just something to put in the movie?

What's wrong with that? If neither the child nor the parent is uncomfortable with it, then there's nothing wrong with it. Legally OR morally. It's not a sign or symptom of anything deviant from either the father or the daughter. It's actually a sign that this is a very open, comfortable and trusting relationship(albeit, it's a MOVIE, not real life) something that is very rare. Loving, caring, well rounded, grounded, nurturing relationship between father and daughter. It's a father and his child, for cripes sake. Not all men are sexual deviants. The man who would be aroused by his daughter of any age in her underwear, and the daughter cautious of it, is the man who would be arroused to see her in a burka and daughter who should be cautious.

I had friend's that being in their underwear was ok with the whole family. I also had friends that felt comfortable completely changing in front of the men in their house and I was look at as the odd ball when I looked away. I don't think it is the proper thing to do and would just be asking for problems if you know what I mean!

When I was 13, I stayed the summer with aunt, uncle and cousin, it was normal to be in just underwear in the am. I was comfortable with it so I did it also.
