Most of them have websites and a place there to contact them. I have written to many and gotten letters back. The only two who didnt write back were Steven King and James Patterson. Give it a try. Pax - C.

Most popular authors these days have web sites at which you can send e-mails or leave messages on a guest list or discussion board.
All authors can be reached care of the publisher at the address in the front of the book. Authors do change publishers, so if the book is older, be sure they are still at the same publisher by looking at a recent book.
In either case, it is rare to get a personal answer. Popular authors get hundreds of letters a week and are barely able to read them, much less reply.

Try the publishers

Probably through the publisher to start with if they don't have their own website.

I know Steve Alten's e-mail. But I don't know...have you read any of his books lately?
