I'm due July 12th, however they are inducing me at 38 weeks, so I'll be having the baby in the end of June. My mom is throwing my baby shower on June 2nd. Is this too close to my due date? I always thought the baby showers were in your 7th month. What do you think?

It's just that it's my first baby and I'm not sure how these things work.

No! Not at all. I actually like it better when people have their baby shower towards the end of their pregnancy. One, because then they're really showing. Two, because towards the end you're sick of being pregnant and the shower and gifts give you a chance to be excited again! I had my shower a couple weeks before my daughter was born :)

I don't think it's too close to your due date. You will just have to make extra effort after the baby shower to get thank-yous sent, get items returned or exchanged if you need to, and get everything washed, put away, and set up for baby. You don't want to be worried about all that stuff once baby arrives.
In your case something that might really save you some time would be if you bought your thank you notes before the shower. Have your mom pass the envelopes out to your guests with a piece of pretty stationery. Tell each guest to write a piece of parenting advice or a blessing for you and the baby on the note, and write their name and address on the envelope. They give the notes back, in the envelopes so you know who they're from, but make sure you tell them not to seal the envelope!! Then you have all the envelopes addressed and ready to go for your thank-you notes.
If you would prefer to have the shower sooner, that is up to you, I think a ballpark figure for most showers is 7-8 months. It just depends on what you're most comfortable with. I wouldn't wait much longer than June 2nd though! Babies have a way of making their debut ahead of schedule sometimes!
Here's a link to my favorite idea for a baby shower ever - a diaper cake! Congratulations on your first baby, and enjoy your baby shower!

I am due June 12th and I am having two different baby showers. I am also concerned about how late they are. I don't want to go into labor the day of my shower like a friend of mine did. I am having one shower on May 12th and one on May 20th. There is nothing either one of us can do about it but hope that we are still pregnant when the shower arrives. Just don't stress out about it. That is what I am doing. I am not worrying about it at all. If you have the baby before the shower is still a nice thing to do after. I am sure people will get you things immediatly if the baby arrives before the shower.

NO that's not too close....you might be a little uncomfortable and hot because it will be June but I promise all of your guests will just adore being around you and your baby bump!!
You can really have the shower anytime....MOST people have it in their 7th or 8th month but there is no law set in stone about this!! Some people even wait until about a month after the baby is born to celebrate. It's all about your personal preference!!
Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I had my baby shower on a Sunday and went into labor on that Tuesday. Talk about late......I don't think there is an appropriate "time frame" to have your shower. Have it when it's feels like the best time for YOU. With my second, I had it early (about 7 months) because I was having twins and knew that I could possibly have them at any day. But with my son I waited later because it just felt right and it helped to get me ready for the baby as I got closer to having him.

Believe me...you don't want all of that stuff around any longer than necessary. You will wish the baby to be there sooner! I had mine at the end of May and I was due June 15th. I felt like the pregnancy would never end...but if it would have been even sooner...I would have gone crazy!
Good Luck

I just had my baby shower this past saturday, and I'm due on May 13th. With my first pregnancy I wanted it sooner because I was so excited, but they still did it a month before. It's common!

That's fine. You can have a baby shower any time you want. You could have one after the baby is born.. it's up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Good Luck

I personally had mine early at 30 weeks. I wanted to have time to organize all the stuff, wash his clothes, take stuff back if I got doubles. I also did not want to be huge and uncomfortable or risk going into labor at my shower! Those were just my reasons for having it sooner. If you are fine with it later than that is just fine too. It is really up to you, I don't think there is a right or wrong time to have them. Congrats!

Not too close to due date. There are no rules on when to have baby shower.
