I'm in an independent study social psychology class. I have 13 days to complete the course, but I've only read 5 out of 14 chapters of the book. I have to take 5 more exams too! Is this possible? Has anyone been in this same predicament?

no your not... but you should have started early. I have taken 4 online courses (psychology, sociology, business and ethics) and there ALL the same. You must memorize ALL the bold terms in the chapters. thats it. theres nothing more to it. If I were you, and I've been in the same prediciment and managed to still get an A, I would do this: (you have thirteen days)

Day 1: Finish and memorize all definitions for CH. 6 & 7
Day 2: F & M (finish and memorize) all definitions for CH.8&9
Day 3: F & M CH. 10 & 11
Day 4: F & M CH. 12 & 13
Day 5 -13: Review (flash cards, explain to friends, etc.)

So your FAR from screwed and have MORE than enough time. just stay on this schedule and you'll be fine and you'll ACE the test just like I did. good luck.

Just think for getting the pass mark for now. Get some past papers and do with friends. If you cannot read the whole text, just try to read whatever you can from here and there of the book.
First go through the chapters and headings and give it a rest. Then read some paragraphs from here and there hoping that it will be enough to just pass it.
I know it's really hard. But we got to do it one way or the other.
When you have some past papers you can identify on which sections you have to study more. Make a check list. I'm also having a hard exam next month and have a checklist to study.
Good Luck!

If that is the o n l y class you are taking and you can devote 24/7 to finishing the chapters and taking the exams, theoretically it is possible to complete the course requirements. This theorum assumes you are a 4.0 student with no social life who won't mind blowing his GPA finishing up a class you have obviously procrastinated until the last possible minute to complete, however. If you are not a 4.0 student, you are screwed. Big time.

You can do it. Just start reading now. Its not going to be easy but start reading multiple chapters a night and really buckle down. Getting off of the internet is a great start!

You are on here wasting time and not studying which seems kind of immature to me. If you are that concerned about your class then why arent you reading right now?

Trying growing up and taking responsibility. It will work wonders.

Not screwed at all! Shoot, you could read about half a chapter a day and still make it! It's only 9 more chapters, that's not THAT much. Jump in, get a quiet spot, enjoy the reading on this nice spring day (at least here in L.A.) and just read 1 chapter per day. You don't need to cram, and just relax with the book, enjoy the reading, make notes if you need to, and you'll do fine.

Well, I'm sure it has been done. A lot of people procrastinate. But I am also sure that it's going to be extremely difficult, and you're going to have to put in a lot of hard work.

I would suggest working on it rather than playing around on Y/A though, lol.

Try to set up a schedule so you're not wasting a lot of time. And it IS important to take study breaks so your mind can work more effectively.

Good luck!!!

And hopefully this is a lesson to you to not procrastinate in this type of situation anymore!!!

You can do it. I had to read 12 chapters and take an exam after each chapter. I did it in 4 days, but I didn't do anything else.It was hard, but I did it.

Don't do it. Trying to read a book that you're obviously not interested in is pointles. What you need to do is read the chapter headings and look for other major sections trying to understand the basic concepts, not the specifics. Good luck.

Yes it's possible. You take about a test a day and read what maybe a chapter and a half a day? You have plenty of time if you just do it.
