The purpose of potassium hydrogen phthalate is as a primary standard to standardize solutions of sodium hydroxide, NaOH(aq). KHP is a high-melting solid, so it can be recrystallized to high purity. It can be dried in an oven at 100-200C. All these characteristics suit it to be a primary standard.

The purpose of potassium hydrogen phthalate is to use it as a primary standard .i does not absorb any moisture .to standardize solutions of sodium hydroxide it will give very accuret and exact rezults.
