Is there anything we can do to stop the practice of unnessesary male circumcision to boys in the United States of America. I think the practice is barbaric and very unnessesary and the after affects arent all that great. I am looking for answers supportive websites and communities. I would appreciate any support I can get. Thanks

And you should ^, everyone should be clean before sex; a sweaty area isn't necessarily appealing. I would most definitely not want to have sex with a dirty or sweaty vagina.

Male circumcision is becoming less common. It was almost universal a few decades ago, and in some states it's now to as low as 14%.

New studies have now confirmed that it reduces sensitivity, pleasure, and increases masturbation difficulty by over 60%.

I think we're following the trend that the rest of the English speaking nations did; to slowly wipe out infant male circumcision. Many doctors no longer do it to newborns; I know I won't.

It is barbaric and anti-sex! Fortunately the momentum now is very much against mutilating baby boys, but until it is completely stopped, male infants and the men they grow up to be will never have a chance to be whole. It really should be illegal -- we do not allow female infants to be mutilated, even in religious rites, so freedom of religion does not include the absolute right to do disgusting things to your babies. Some Jews are already brave enough to refuse to have their sons cut.

There are a lot of good websites. Here are a few:

http://www.nocirc.org
http://www.cirp.org
http://www.norm.org

All of these have links to other excellent sites.

One thing you can do is to answer questions about circumcision in this forum; there are several most days. If you don't have time for that, at least vote in a few such cases each day to keep the pro-circ side from getting too many "Best Answers." Even go back and vote on old questions on this topic. Search on "circumcise" and "circumcision" and also on some of the commoner misspellings such as "circimsize." It can keep the pro-intact answers at the top.

Let's all do what we can to save boys from being senselessly mutilated!

Circumcision is largely unnecessary in the US, aside from religious reasons (which can be iffy sometimes). That said, there are rare instances where a circumcision might be medically necessary.

If you search online in any search engine, you can easily find many groups and communities against circumcision. Also worth looking at are the following links:

Links 1, 2, and 3 are studies on the effects of circumcision on sexual sensitivity, and sexual satisfaction/pleasure for both the male and female.

Links 4 and 5 are studies/reports on the effects of circumcision on infants, and the risks/complications that may result from infant circumcision.

Link 6 is general info on hygiene of the foreskin and penis. Link 7 is a study showing that good hygiene essentially negates the benefit of circumcision with regards to reducing rate of contracting HIV; basically with proper and prompt hygiene, there is no statistical difference in rates of contracting HIV between uncircumcised and circumcised men. Link 8 is another study that casts doubt on circumcision and HIV. And link 9 is a blog further debating circumcision and HIV.

Links 10 and 11 are other sites for more info and discussion on circumcision. Hopefully, these sites provide the support you're looking for, and you may be able to use these sites to support your own arguments.

Attitudes are changing, and I'm sure the discussion here helps. We all need to urge parents with newborns to talk with their pediatricians about this. The Association of Pediatrics no longer recommends routine circumcision, but unfortunately, many practicing Pediatricians fail to keep up with this type of policy change, and don't understand the issues. If more parents ask them about the Association's position, then they'll get better informed.

Since in high school now, circumcised and uncircumcised are in about equal numbers, there is less fear and concern about 'being different'. We need to convince fathers in particular that their sons don't 'have to look like Dad'.

The change is happening - it's just taking time.

Are you absolutely kidding me!? This "Barbaric" ritual as you put it is a PERSONAL PREFERENCE. DO you not understand the meaning of that? That means that when someone is faced with a decision that will affect their own personal life (that means it does not affect you or anyone else) that they have the right to make that decision based on their own beliefs? ( NOT THE BELIEFS OF OTHERS) You be careful about taking too many rights away and we are gonna be left with NO rights!. Like abortion. NOT anyone elses decision but that of the person it involves.
And Personally-- I had my son circumsized BECAUSE of hygiene. Its cleaner Rather, Its easier to clean. I'm sure those who have not had the "barbaric" ritual done know how to keep it clean...I have no reason to believe they are any less cleaner...Like I said...Its just a PREFERENCE.

That's not easy because aside from some strong religious matter the circumcision is promoted from Jewish people and you know how much leverage they've in the world.

i've had two circumcized boyfriends and one uncircumcized. I do think uncircumcized is better as long as they keep it clean.. it's more to play with and easier to pleasure since you just slide it up and down. we don't even need lubes unlike my previous boyfriends.

and yeah, we both shower before sex. i don't think anyone wants to have sex with a tired and sweaty body after a long day.

No one FORCES it, it's a parent's decision. I WISH my husband were circumsized. I'm tired of him leaving lint and all kinds of nasty stuff in my vagina after sex. I make him go wash his penis before we have sex.

necessary or not it depends on person to person but I think its good to be circumcised considering the hygiene point and also its more comfortable to have sex.
