If your going to install another virus software over another, be sure to completely delete the first one. If you dont, they will conflict with each other causing more problems. McAfee isnt very good, Norton isnt much better. I recommend NOD 32. Google it. You will be glad you did.

McAfee could not find a virus it it had a 300 foot billboard on top of it saying virus in big bold letters. All it will do is slow your pc down to snails pace as it hogs up all your available memory.
That and Norton are the 2 worst anti virus out there. I would suggest ya go snag avg it will not chug your pc down and is free.

Yes, McAfee VirusScan 2007 is safe, and you do not need to uninstall symantec before installing McAfee. I personally like symantec though.

Only install ONE Anti-virus per PC. Remove all others FIRST.
Norton AND McAfee are good programs but they are huge and slow down your PC by as much as 20%.
Try NOD32 ($) or AVG (free). Both are excellent.
