Yes it is. Because people care too much about approval from society and families.
I personally think it should be embraced in a relationship and not feared

Hmmm, this is a great question, first of all. I'll say this on the subject:There are a lot of nasty things going on that involve sex. Rapes, molestations, etc. Also, prostitution, AIDs, and other diseases. I think that has a lot to do with people's mindset. They don't think of sex in a positive way anymore because of all the violence, emotions, diseases. A lot of people end up being pressured into it, or getting hurt because of it. Infidelity is another sex related issue. Sex itself is apart of being ANY kind of animal. It's a great thing and it should be shared, but it has to be between two people who understand all of the ups and downs associtated with it. A lot of people are just not educated enough to make the right decisions about sex. That's a big reason that some would say young people should wait. It is something that takes time to understand. People need to realize that. Rushing in to it never helps anything.

Many "Live" without knowing how....
Making love & having sex is very different from one another! Both can be a part of life, being alive & being human. Many don't require such things to feel or know them. Both can also be exempt from life, being alive & being human and many do require them.
It seems though that what you're getting at here are the issues some force or try to force upon others regarding them.... Sorry, can't help ya there. One only has control over themselves, their own actions, thoughts or words.

Of course, it's only natural. As to why? It's some sort of hold over from long forgotten times, but who is to say that taboos are bad? Look at the population levels today. And simply because birth control was invented is not a good reason/excuse to just go screwing anything that walks. Once you take away the natural population control mechanisms, you must revise the way that you treat the use of reproductive organs. It's all a part of the same anthropological mechanism.

As being mammals, it's an entirely natural thing to embrace. There are no other animals in the world which have such views as we do. But as human we are far more intelligent and in such we must also try to produce ways to show that we are superior and can control ourselves and certain aspects of life. Abstaining from sex is just one way to show that we can do just that.

this answer will probably severely piss you off and thus not be chosen for best answer, but I know it is, and the answer is no. We don't need to have sex, and whatever moron thinks that must not know there are still many virgins for life, although they seem to be coming close to extinct due to the culture created by the women's rights movement, pop-culture, the "gangster" movement (for lack of a better word) among other things. and I resent the term "making love" since sex intrinsically has nothing to do with love, since love in possible without sex, and sex possible without love. I personally aim to have a relationship with sex to a minimum, possibly only for reproduction. and people being punished for expressing their sexuality? you should consider yourself lucky you live in a world they aren't punished for far less severe things, which not too long ago that was the case in most countries.

Of course it is. Sex is holy. The reason sexuality is repressed is because of fear of death.
Wait... let me back up.
Sexual difference contains a metaphor for the universe. The act of sex itself is the purest metaphor for both creation and destruction -- it's a metaphor for life, and for death. People are afraid of sex because it represents the mystery that has the power to destroy the ego. Most of the fear of sex/death is projected as fear of female sexuality (since the ego is masculine).
People desire to control women and girls, sexually, because they fear death. This may sound like nonsense, but if you study this problem with an open mind, you may find I am correct. That is the source of prudery: fear of death, as death (and life!) is symbolized by the willful sexuality of fertile young women. And in more practical terms, but saying the same thing, it's desire for control of creative (reproductive) resources, which are symbolically and materially embodied in young women. (Creation and destruction are inseparable)
You often hear people express concern about teen pregnancy. Well, hysteria. Everyone wants to "protect their daughters." It does make some sense, because the sexual drive of adolescents, left to run its course without inhibitions or guidance, would indeed create social problems, in the form of a lot of early bearing of children that had no social support. Adolescents are not reliable users even of modern contraception, so that's no excuse. SOME guidance about sexuality should be offered to youth in our society.
But that doesn't justify the repression or demonization of adolescent sexuality. Even little children have sexuality, before they are socially sexual. RESPECT for young people as their own sexual beings is what is missing. Fear is not respect; desire is not respect. These abolish respect. The issue is respect for life itself. Our society lacks that, for you-name-the-reason... although the idea certainly receives a lot of lip-service!
I agree with you that a more enlightened, respectful, and positive approach to sexuality would be symptomatic of improvement in the human condition -- even identical to it. I'm not so sure it could cause it. The "rebellion" has ALWAYS been taking place, and has not succeeded. You just won't read those particular writings in schools, of course.

1) yes it is.
2) fear and for some reason a lot religions seem to say that one should suppress ones natural desires in that area.Remember this country was predominately founded by puritans and has a heavy religious foundation that has influenced the making and passing of the law and a mental set.
It should also be noted that unrestrained sexuality can cause a lot of hurt feelings and can lead to a disruption of society .

Eros is part of living; sex acts themselves are superfluous. There is no record of any person in human history who died as a direct result of refraining from sexual activity.

Makinglove/sex is part of being human...it's in our nature (I think) to have such an expression. It's also good for you health wise..it's a stress reliever, you can burn calories and it's just a pleasurable experience if it's with someone you love and care about!!!
