It's definitely "King of the Road" which was written and originally released by Roger Miller (I'm not that old but I do have the album) and it was covered, really well, by the Proclaimers.

King Of The Road...Roger Miller, some of the words are: Trailers, for sale or rent. Rooms to let, 50 cents, no fun, no food, no pets. I aint got no cigarettes. Two hours of pushing brooms, buys an 8 by 12, 4 buck room, I'm a man of means by no means...King Of The Road.
