I will visit Sydney and Melbourne in early June 07. I want to go to snow mountain. Is it possible for me go to a snow field from Sydney and then go to Melbourne directly without back to Sydney?
Any field good for beginner?
Any good backpacker close to the field good?
I do not have a driving license, how can I go to the field?
Actually, I just want to play snow, skiing is not necessary ^_^.
Thank you very much

There are buses from Sydney to the Snowy Mts. You can also fly to Cooma and pick up shuttles from the airport. I do not think that there are buses or flights direct from the Snowy Mts to Melbourne, but if you backtrack a bit to Canberra you can get a bus or plane to Melbourne from Canberra. Canberra is about 2 hours drive from the Snowy Mts.

There is a town called Jindabyne close to the snow that has a full range of accommodation.

Have a look here

Both have a lot of information.

Apparently there are flights from Cooma to Melbourne this winter.
